Terms & Conditions

Last updated: January 28, 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the ClipCompass browser extension and related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated under the name “ClipCompass” (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1) Who We Are

Provider: ClipCompass (trade name)

Operator: Sole proprietor registered in France (auto-entrepreneur)

Support: support@clipcompass.app

Website: clipcompass.app

2) Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

3) The Service

ClipCompass is a browser extension that enhances how you consume long-form YouTube videos by providing features such as:

synced transcript viewing and search (when transcripts are available),

AI-generated “Best Moments” / highlights,

AI-generated summaries and long-form analysis,

language preferences for transcript and AI outputs,

export/copy features (available on paid plans, as described below).

Important: ClipCompass requires a YouTube transcript to run analysis. If a video does not have an available transcript (or YouTube restricts transcript access), ClipCompass cannot run the analysis for that video.

4) Accounts

Some features may require an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently or in violation of these Terms.

5) Plans, Billing, and Subscriptions
5.1 Free Plan

The Free plan allows up to 3 analyzed videos per day (the “Free Limit”). We may adjust the Free Limit at any time, with notice where reasonable.

5.2 Paid Plans (Pro)

Paid plans provide expanded access (for example, unlimited analysis) and additional convenience features (for example, exporting/copying the Full Analysis). The exact features included in each plan are shown at purchase and may change over time. Paid plan pricing and billing periods are shown at checkout.

5.3 Payment Processing

Payments are processed through third-party providers such as Stripe. By purchasing a paid plan, you agree to Stripe’s terms and authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method.

5.4 Automatic Renewal

If you purchase a subscription, it will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before renewal.

5.5 Cancellation

To cancel a subscription, you must contact us by email at support@clipcompass.app from the email address associated with your account. We will process cancellation requests within 72 business hours (Monday–Friday, excluding public holidays in France). After cancellation is processed, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, unless otherwise required by law.

5.6 Price Changes

We may change pricing, plan features, or billing structures. If a change affects your subscription, we will provide notice when required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the change.

5.7 Refunds

Refunds are handled according to our refund policy displayed at purchase (if any) and applicable law. Unless required by law, payments are generally non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods.

6) “View-Only” Limitations (Free Plan)

On the Free plan, some features may be available in view-only mode (for example, viewing the Full Analysis without the ability to copy/export). We may use technical measures to enforce plan limits and feature restrictions.

7) Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover source code, trade secrets, or underlying algorithms (except to the extent permitted by law);

  • bypass, disable, or circumvent feature limits, access controls, usage quotas, paywalls, plan restrictions (including "view-only" restrictions), or authentication/security measures;

  • use bots, scripts, automation, or scraping to generate excessive requests or extract data at scale beyond normal use;

  • use the Service to violate any law or third-party rights;

  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, our infrastructure, or other users;

  • create, upload, transmit, or distribute malware, spyware, or abusive content;

  • remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices or security features.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms.

8) Security, Circumvention & Abuse

You may not attempt to (a) gain unauthorized access to the Service or our systems, servers, APIs, databases, or networks; (b) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network; (c) interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service (including by introducing malware or conducting denial-of-service attacks); or (d) otherwise engage in fraud, abuse, or circumvention.

We may monitor for, detect, and prevent fraud, abuse, circumvention, or security threats, and may suspend or terminate access immediately if we reasonably believe you are engaging in such activity.

9) Third-Party Services (YouTube, Google, AI, etc.)

The Service may interact with or rely on third-party platforms and services, including:

YouTube and its transcript availability and restrictions,

Google OAuth (if you choose Google sign-in),

AI providers used to generate outputs,

hosting and analytics services.

We are not responsible for third-party services, including changes that affect transcript availability or platform behavior. Your use of YouTube is subject to YouTube’s own terms and policies.

10) AI Outputs and Disclaimers

The Service may generate summaries, highlights, and analyses using AI. You acknowledge that:

AI outputs may contain inaccuracies or omissions,

outputs are provided for informational purposes and to support learning,

the Service is not professional advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.).

You are responsible for how you use the outputs and for verifying information where appropriate.

11) Intellectual Property

The Service, including software, design, branding, and all related intellectual property, is owned by ClipCompass and/or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal or internal business use.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service unless we give written permission.

You may not sell, resell, rent, lease, distribute, publicly display, publish, or otherwise make the Service available to any third party, including as part of a service bureau, timesharing, or similar arrangement, unless expressly authorized by us in writing.

12) Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us the right to use them without restriction or compensation.

13) Privacy (revised)

ClipCompass does not sell or distribute your data and does not store any of your specific browsing history. We only process and store the minimum information required to provide the Service (for example, account details such as email, authentication identifiers, subscription status, and general statistics about request volume). When you run an analysis, we may send the video transcript and related metadata (such as video ID and language preferences) to our servers and trusted third-party providers (for example, AI and payment providers) solely to generate the requested outputs and operate the Service. However, we do not send your account identity (such as your name or email) to AI providers during this process; we only verify your subscription/payment status on our side to confirm that you are authorized to make the specific request.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect information, and we retain it only as long as necessary for service operation, compliance, and troubleshooting.

14) Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and/or canceling your subscription.

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

you violate these Terms,

we are required to do so by law,

your use poses a security or legal risk,

you engage in abuse, fraud, or circumvention.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately.

In addition to suspension or termination, we may investigate violations, cooperate with law enforcement, and pursue civil remedies, including injunctive relief and damages, where we believe the Service or our users are harmed or at risk.

15) Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee:

uninterrupted or error-free operation,

that transcripts will be available for every video,

that AI outputs will be complete or accurate.

16) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLIPCOMPASS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL.

IN ANY EVENT, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM (OR €100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANYTHING), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in that case, the limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted.

17) Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ClipCompass harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

18) Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.

19) Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, these Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms shall be governed by the laws of France, and where applicable, by relevant European Union consumer protection rules, without regard to conflict of laws principles.

Before filing any formal claim, you agree to contact us at support@clipcompass.app and make a good-faith effort to resolve the dispute informally. If the dispute is not resolved, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, the courts located in France shall have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights or protections you may have under the laws of your country of residence, including any mandatory rules regarding jurisdiction or venue. Where such mandatory rules apply, disputes will be handled in the venue required by applicable law.
